"Greg is a perfectionist. A wonderful artist and one of my very best friends. Greg has a vision, passion and respect for amazing surfboards, incredible art, wonderful people and inspiring work. Truly a unique global talent."
Greg Martz, having glassed surfboards for over forty years, is considered a master craftsman. He specializes in resin, color, and innovative design techniques with clients coming from around the globe seeking his expertise.
A series of events in recent years propelled Greg to seriously pursue his passion to create one-of-a-kind resin articulations, resulting in his first one-man show in the spring of 2011. Exhibited in tandem (to a standing-room-only audience) at Hurley Headquarters and in their retail store 225 Forest in Laguna Beach, the overwhelming positive response inspired an even greater desire to share his work with a broader audience.
Possessed by a new-found artistic direction, Greg continues to navigate uncharted territories in which surfboard inspired contemporary abstract resin art continues to fuel his vision.
"Greg is probably the finest glasser around, His group of workers are the best in the business and quality control is surperb. I can always count on him."
"Greg is a master craftsman, he has the whole thing wired..., every facet of surfboard glassing; he is as good as they get."
"Greg is one of the top glassers in the world in terms of his craftsmanship and experience. There are only a handful of guys with expertise the equal Greg's; it's a honor to be able to work with him. Part pirate, part cowboy, and part surfboard maker, he's definitely not a one dimensional kind of guy."
"Greg's work is masterful.
He has a sense of color and design that is unusual. His work is dynamic, colorful, exciting and extremely creative. I have judged many art shows with contemporary entries and he would have been a prize winner in most."
